Heather the owner was an excellent host - helpful but unobtrusive. Very friendly and welcoming. The style of the hotel was gorgeous. Felt at home right away.
Owner was very helpfull and kind.
Cleanliness and courtsy
The welcome of the owners and the quality of accommodation were both excellent. I would certainly return, Superb value for money!
Good value for money. My room had a great view. Free wifi appreciated.
Traffic was noisy on the road outside my room. Not a particularly busy road but a straight stretch where traffic moves fast. Not a problem for me but it would bother many people.
Our room was very clean and bright. The owner (Heather) was just lovely, she booked dinner in a nearby restraunt for us and also organised a cab, extremely helpful and friendly. Would definitely recomment staying there.
Very froendly welcome - lovely to be offered tea & biscuits on arrival. Also liked the breakfast - continental but plenty of variety and flexible times.
Inital impression from outside not great. Could do with a new external sign.
Beautiful, spacious room, great and friendly service, walking distance to downtown Dundee. Great value for money.
Our stay at the Grampian was delightful. It is in a beautiful Geogian townhouse. Heather and Maureen were excellent hosts. The breakfasts were great. And the location and view of the river were superb.
We arrived rather late in the evening, yet were welcomed warmly. The breakfast was very good. The owner was very friendly and as she had traveled extensively, was very knowledgeable about other destinations.
The exterior is misleading.
We were pleasantly surprised by the up-market feel and quality of the hotel (having originally thought that it was a simple B&B). The hospitality of the owner was first class - we received personal care and attention as well as friendly advice on sightseeing and local excursions. Breakfast was a luxurious scrambled eggs and salmon dish. In view of the comfort and luxury, we felt the hotel was terrific value for money - and wish we could have stayed another night - but we had to move on with our travel plans. Highly recommended and fully deserving of the 3-stars.
The room was great - very nice decor and furniture in general. The owner is a very nice and gracious lady.
This is not a hotel - it's a B&B - |I guess I was fooled by the title. As much as I liked the decor there were a number of issues I had: 1. I had to wait 15 minutes for someone to come and let me into the place - the bell raised no response and I had to then hunt around to find a telephone number to let them know I was at the door. It then took 10 minutes for the owner to arrive! 2. Great room but nowhere to put a case (I don't empty my case when staying a single night) and in the bathroom no where to put a toiled bag whilst getting ready.
Normally I don't like to stay in hotels/b n b's/ in a city because they are usually expensive and the value is not there. The Grampian Hotel was perfect. We were in Dundee one night to do some serious shopping ( for my 13 year old) before heading back to the States. We'd been touring around visiting castles and historic sites. Found the Grampian online and was able to book at the last minute. The Hotel,an historic home, was lovely and immaculate. Our room was for 3 and we had very comfortable beds with excellent linens. There was plenty of light in the room and two sparkling huge windows that over looked Perth Street and we could see the River just ahead. Watching the sun set over the river was spectacular. The owner (Heather) was very accommodating and as nice as could be.
The Grampian Hotel is a home from home, a high standard of cleanliness, good locaton and very comfortable. Heather the proprietor was welcoming and very informative on the local area. There is happy and easy-going atmosphere in the Hotel and it would be an ideal place for families. I would definitely stay there again as a base to explore the surrounding area especially nearby St. Andrews.
Heather is very welcoming and friendly. Location is quiet and Dundee centre easily accessible.
Beautiful old house. Clean and fresh decor. Friendly.
Breakfast was very disappointing. Sad to see margarine on the table instead of butter. Poor selection of continental breakfast foods. Missing the small touches that could have made the hotel much better. I had a front bedroom facing the Perth Road and the traffic noise prevented me sleeping. Tiny bathroom and I did not find the bed comfortable. Very expensive for what it was,
